Nathan Czachur is the Head of Engineering at Impact, having joined the company in 2018 when it was a small team of four. He has progressed from being the sole lead developer to overseeing the entire engineering team. Nathan's role involves a blend of hands-on software development and managing the quality and security of the platform. He ensures scalable processes that integrate smoothly across the company. Nathan takes pride in maintaining the agility of a startup while enhancing platform quality to meet the dynamic needs of enterprise customers. His expertise spans coding, infrastructure, CI/CD, QA, security, strategy, hiring, and project management.

  • What are you responsible for at Impact Reporting?

    I started my journey at Impact in 2018 when the company was a small team of four. I’ve since progressed from being the sole lead developer to becoming the head of engineering. My daily routine is a balanced mix of hands-on software development tasks and overseeing the engineering team’s work. This involves managing the quality and security of our platform, as well as crafting an enjoyable and scalable set of processes. These processes are designed not just for the engineering team but are integrated smoothly with the operations of the entire company.

  • What inspired you to enter this field?

    I take pride in our achievement of maintaining a startup’s agility while enhancing the platform’s quality. In an industry that’s constantly evolving, it’s crucial to retain our adaptability. This flexibility allows us to meet the dynamic needs of our enterprise customers while ensuring a stable and reliable platform.

  • What areas of engineering do you like best?

    My expertise spans various domains of software engineering, including coding, infrastructure, continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD), quality assurance (QA), and security. In addition to these technical skills, I enjoy leading and managing a dedicated team and focusing on strategy, hiring, and project management.

  • Top 3 loves?

    Coding, meeting new people, my mum’s lasagna.

  • What gets you up in the morning?

    Our customers! The people who use Impact have always been a pleasure to work with and provide some great problems for me to solve as a software engineer.

  • My favourite city in the world to visit would be...

    Right here in Manchester. Although I can’t live without the countryside.
