Local authorities face many barriers and issues when it comes to measuring the social value of their work. January 2021 saw a large shift in the way social value is accounted for as part of public sector contracts. Public Sector organisations now need to ‘explicitly consider’ social value when evaluating tenders and any commitments now make up a minimum of 10% of the scoring.
This changing focus requires some notable effort and attention from procurement and contract management teams across the country to ensure they can conduct more sophisticated evaluations.
