Case study

Efficiency North

Discover how this housing consortium transformed their ESG strategy with Impact Reporting, making it easy to track progress and ensure social value commitments are met.

Champion of good spotlight: Efficiency North

Background

Efficiency North Holdings is a member-owned and governed consortium of social housing providers. They integrate EN:Procure Ltd, EN:Able Futures CIC, and EN:Able Build Ltd — three not-for-profit organisations delivering professional services in procurement, apprenticeships, and land development. These services save time and money, add social value, and support social and economic regeneration in communities across Northern England. The charitable arm of the organisation, EN:Able Communities CIO, furthers their mission of social impact.

The challenge: Scattered social value data

Before implementing Impact Reporting, Efficiency North faced significant challenges in managing their extensive social value data. Data was scattered across various locations, making the reporting and analysis process time-intensive and resource-draining. This fragmented approach hindered their ability to present a cohesive view of their social value progress.

The complete ESG solution

“Impact Reporting has been key to the implementation of our new ESG Strategy,” explains ESG Manager Joe Came. “It has given us a one-stop-shop solution for our social value data. We can effectively track our own social value progress across different areas of our business, as well as the social value progress of the contractors we work with, enabling us to ensure commitments are being met.”

We explored several social value reporting solutions. While others were strong, we felt Impact Reporting closely aligned with our company values while offering a flexible and well-supported service. From the outset, it was clear that Impact’s platform was simple and user-friendly, while having the capability to handle the wide range of our social value reporting needs.

The #1 thing we loved about Impact was the warmth and friendliness of all the staff we engaged with from the very first meeting. The level of support is amazing – making it easy to learn how to use the platform and maximise use of its many features. We highly recommend Impact Reporting to any organisation looking to streamline their social value reporting.

Results and next steps

Onboarding

Deployment of the Impact Reporting platform was smooth and efficient. The support team at Impact Reporting provided comprehensive training sessions, ensuring that all users could maximise the platform’s features. The onboarding process was tailored to meet some of Efficiency North’s niche requirements, making the transition seamless.

Impact Reporting will also be playing a key role in the implementation of EN:Procure’s ESG strategy across Gen-4 frameworks, which will be led by ESG manager Joe Came. The portal will support ESG delivery across all stages of contractor engagement, focusing on the tender process, data capture, and analysis and reporting, and will allow bidding contractors to submit ESG bids directly to the portal. The EN:Procure team will also be able to easily review updates throughout contract durations, as well as retrieve data which will be used for analysis, reporting and sharing.

The impact

Since implementing Impact Reporting, Efficiency North has seen significant improvements in their data management and reporting processes. The platform has enabled them to measure, evaluate, and visualise their social value and sustainability progress more effectively. The ability to track the social value progress of contractors has also ensured that commitments are consistently met.

Looking into the future

Lee Parkinson, chief executive of Efficiency North noted, “We already have an excellent reputation for real social value delivery, and we will now widen the focus of that through our ESG strategy in partnership with our members and supply chain. We are excited to develop a strong working relationship with Impact Reporting for years to come.”

Looking ahead, Efficiency North plans to continue leveraging Impact Reporting to enhance their ESG initiatives. They will also be contributing to the development of MeasureUp, a new valuation framework tool that converts social value and ESG activities into measurable outcomes. This collaboration is set to bring more transparent and impactful social value reporting to the social housing industry.

Matt Haworth, Co-Founder of Impact Social Value Reporting Ltd, expressed his excitement: “We are thrilled to partner with EN:Procure to enhance their social value and ESG tracking capabilities. By integrating our platform with EN:Procure’s processes, we aim to facilitate more transparent, effective, and actionable reporting.”

Efficiency North is committed to driving sustainable progress and creating lasting social impact, and with Impact Reporting, they are well-equipped to achieve these goals.
