🧠Spotlight: Mental Health Support
Mental Health Awareness Week 2025 (13–19 May) focused on the power of community in supporting our wellbeing — a timely theme, given rising concern about access to services.
New NHS plans will see dedicated mental health A&E units rolled out across England to help people in crisis get the right support, faster. And research from Lancaster University suggests that cutting waiting times for mental health treatment could save the UK economy over ÂŁ1 billion a year.
At Impact Reporting, our free MeasureUp framework helps quantify why this matters. Two key outcomes:
- Service provision for mental health: Every year of effective support creates a social value of ÂŁ7,600 per person.
- Improved mental health: Helping someone move from poor to good mental health is worth ÂŁ30,700 in total social value.

Opportunity Index Interactive Map
The Sutton Trust’s newly released Opportunity Index reveals stark regional disparities in social mobility across England. All top 20 constituencies for disadvantaged young people are in London, while areas like Newcastle upon Tyne Central and West rank lowest, with significant gaps in GCSE attainment and future earnings.
Explore the interactive map to see how your area compares.

Watching: Kneecap
For those wanting to learn more about English/Irish history, living under occupation, the importance of indigenous language watch Kneecap (health warning… it is full of swears).Â

Listening: Empire podcast
For those wanting to learn about colonialism, Empire, British/Indian history, and corporation human rights abuse in the name of profit, check out season 1 of Empire. (health warning, it is full of absolute brutal historically accurate horror…)

Using: Boycat
Search brands, scan products, and make ethical shopping choices with confidence. It’s quite US centric but still a good amount in the UK..
